Spatulas, Japanese spatulas & co. – important tools for every painter
A spatula is an important tool for painting, allowing holes, cracks and other damage to the surface to be filled. This creates a smooth surface that can be painted, varnished or covered. Spatulas are available in numerous designs, as they are used in a wide range of different applications, such as painting walls, building furniture and on various materials.

With spatulas and a little filler or plastic wood, anything from small damage to the material up to large holes as well as scratches and cracks can be filled. Spatulas make the application of filling material easy because they are flexible and adapt to the substrate. This creates a perfectly flat surface that can be painted, varnished or covered.
Spatulas ensure smooth walls
If you want to fix holes in your walls before wallpapering or painting, you can use our stainless steel Flex spatula with an ergonomically shaped 2-component handle. With this tool and a bit of plaster, you can fill old drill holes and other damage and smooth the surface while filling. After the filler has dried out, you can start directly with the decorative wall painting.
This painter's spatula is also suitable for working on walls, suspended ceilings and other claddings made of gypsum plaster board. It allows the joints between several boards and the holes, which arise when the gypsum plaster board is tightened, to be filled.
However, after the curing of the filling material you should smooth the surfaces made of plasterboard once again. This results in a completely smooth surface which can be easily painted or hung with woodchip paper or wallpaper.
Japanese spatulas are also suitable for other purposes
For smaller repair work on wood, metal and other materials, please use our Japanspachtel-Set (set of Japanese spatulas) which consists of spatulas in several sizes. Use them to apply the plastic wood or the polyester filler to make long cracks and holes disappear. Japanese spatulas are very flexible and therefore also perfectly suitable as a fine spatula for smaller jobs. They are made of rustproof steel and are equipped with a plastic strip so that they sit well in the hand. Many of our customers also use Japanese spatulas as tools for removing old wallpaper and other wall coverings. The steel is thin and elastic so it can easily be slid between wallpaper and wall. Even an old coat of paint can be loosened with spatulas of this type to ease pickling and sanding a little. Thus, a set of surface spatulas such as Japanese spatulas should in no way be missing from the toolkit of a professional and a do-it-yourselfer.
