Scratches and other damage to surfaces made of wood can often be repaired with little effort and are hardly visible afterwards. Plastic wood, wood repair wax and fillers are available for this purpose, as well as pens and sprays for the subsequent repair of the varnish layer. This treatment ensures that furniture and wooden floors made of parquet or laminate are simultaneously protected from external influences and above all from moisture.
Plastic wood, wood wax and a spatula for repairing cracks and holes
With plastic wood and wood wax you can plug small holes in the wood to create a flat surface. Both means are ready for use, but wood repair wax is easier to work with if it is warmed up. A simple lighter is sufficient for this purpose, but alternatively you can also use a smelter.
A polyester-based spatula is also perfectly suitable for the repair of damaged spots. It is mixed from two components and can withstand more severe stress after curing. Our ADLER Poly-Spachtel can be used not only for wood, but also for surfaces made of plastic, indoors and outdoors. As a result, it is also suitable for repairing damage to windows and doors. It is transparent and does not stand out on surfaces. Wood waxes and plastic wood are available in many different colours. They are available for individual species of wood, but can also be mixed if necessary to match the colour shade of the wood.
A paint layer can be repaired with paint pens and spray paints
Damage to the paint layer should be treated as quickly as possible as moisture could penetrate through it. This could cause the wood to swell and metal start to rust. In addition, a clear coat can become cloudy if water penetrates beneath it. For smaller repairs on a varnished surface it is best to use a cover paint pen or our Grilith Flexpen which we offer in various colours according to the individual species of wood. It is just as easy to use as an ordinary pen. Larger surfaces are best painted with the transparent Grilith Möbel-Spraylack (furniture spray paint) from our shop ADLER Farbenmeister. We produce it on a nitrocellulose basis in a glossy, matt and silky matt finish.
